The Black Bridal Fashion Designer Behind Kiana Carn Designs

I have been into art and drawing since I was about six years old. Growing up, every adult around me knew I had the “creative gene” because of how I saw things. I could look at something and imagine it being something else. So, it came very naturally when I found the love for fashion. I used to read all the fashion magazines in line at check out, looking at fashion books during the book fairs, and drawing my Barbie doll clothes. I fell even more in love with fashion while watching “Say Yes To the Dress”, that time was a very pivotal moment in my life because of it where I made the decision to pursue fashion.   After that, I received my first sewing machine at 11 and took off from there. At this point, construction was not my strong point but just creating and making all types of crafts is where I began to build my knowledge of sewing.   When I graduated high school, my goal was a fashion design school. I took an alternate route and went to Georgia State first pursuing Marketing thinking that would satisfy my creative juices. After two years, I literally had an epiphany sitting on the couch watching an Art Institute commercial and realized I needed to change and pursue what I had always been passionate about which was fashion design. I transferred to Georgia Southern in 2015 and have never looked back. I started my business in November 2017 and I graduated with my degree in Fashion Design of May 2018.   Since then, I have completed two internships here in Atlanta, along with showcasing in a few fashion shows, along with creating what I call “Kustom” designs for my personal business.
