It’s only a few days to the end of 2019 whoosh! the end of the decade. How do you feel about this? It has got me all up in my feelings because it has been a roller coaster ride. 2019 was definitely an amazing year full of love, surprises and ‘aww moments’. Get ready to be teary-eyed because we have rounded up wedding proposals and love stories in 2019 that left us (and would also leave you) ‘aww struck’.
The Seldons
The Seldon’s love story is arguably the world’s best proposal story ever. The beautiful mother of 3, Quateshia Green lost her lower limb in a ghastly car accident. An event that changed her life forever. It didn’t bring her down, rather it made her stronger and strengthened her relationship with God.
After losing her legs, she wasn’t sure her man John, would still want to be with her but talk about a true king. Surrounded by 17 balloons and 17 roses to celebrate 17 years together, John popped the question. She said yes, of course. In his words:
“Imma make you my Queen. I love you more than I did before, he said you won’t ever be able to run out my life. We fought hard for our love, 17 years of fighting”

Adetumi and Lulu
Have you ever felt like you’ve had enough? Enough of the pain and heartbreaks. You have become convinced that you’ll never find love. You’ve totally given up on love and remind yourself of this every day, in front of the mirror. If this is your story, Adetumi and Lulu’s destination proposal would restore your faith in love.
After Adetumi had gone through a series of fruitless relationships, he prayed to God to direct him to the right woman. In his words:
“I went through series of fruitless relationships. I had to take a step back and pray to God. These are the words I said: “Lord, I cannot with these girls today. Can you steer me to a woman that will love me unconditionally, a strong, beautiful and intelligent woman, a woman that loves to travel, a woman that loves family. Then with a bit of cheek said can you compile this together and make her Nigerian also. ”
And God answered. After so many ‘baecations’ in over 5 countries, Adetumi proposed to his long-time crush (since 2012, wow) turned girlfriend, turned fiancee in Santorini, Greece – every girl’s dream/honeymoon destination. She didn’t see that coming but guess what? She said Yes.
Shevon and Lassantia
I absolutely loooveee ‘love at first sight’ stories, so I couldn’t help but put this on the list. Jamaican couples, Shevon James and Lassantia Davis gave us all the vibes and left us mushy with their love and proposal story.
Shevon met Lassantia for the first time at a computer store and felt an instant connection. He kept going back, just to see her. In his words:
“She had the most beautiful face I had ever seen. I still remember as if it was today, It’s even more beautiful now. I kept going back to buy stuff I didn’t want, just so I could see her.”
On the 5th of March, while they were on a weekend getaway, he bent the knee, asking her to marry him. She said yes, of course. Then he whispered the cutest words “From this day onwards you will be my life line and the pulse in my neck”

Warren and Alexan
Popular Olympics Athlete, Warren Weir proposed to the love of his life, Alexan Stewart on the 30th of August 2019. The couple went on a baecation trip to the Bahamas, Alexan wasn’t expecting what was coming.
It turned out that everyone (her family and friends) knew what Warren was up to, everyone but Alexan. The couple vlogged about their baecation using the hashtag #BlackTravelMovement. Warren beautifully executed it from a surprise trip to the romantic proposal, with drones circling them. He asked another tourist to hold the camera steady on them and then popped the question.
