Taara and Michael Surprise Rooftop Proposal in Chicago
Taara and Michael surprise rooftop proposal in Chicago is giving all it’s meant to give - the feels, love vibes, everything. Taara had no idea Michael was planning to pop the question. It was supposed to be a brunch date with her best friend and also shoot day for some business content, so she had to get all glammed up. Michael had it all planned out down to the tiniest detail. He brought his pillowcase from home and made it visible when they FaceTimed, so she won’t suspect a thing (that’s another level of smart!). Their proposal was everything beautiful with their pictures, flowers, candles and of course, their love. Over the most beautiful view, Michael went on one knee and proposed to the love of his life. Of course, she said yes. The Afro Caribbean couple would be having a destination wedding in 2022. We don’t want to spill all the tea, so keep scrolling to read their love story and engagement proposal story as narrated by Taara. How We Met
Bride-to-be, Taara is African-American while Groom-to-be Michael is Nigerian (Yoruba). Before we take in the proposal, here’s how they met: We met at a work conference event. At that time, we both worked at the same company. Michael slid in my work chat messenger introducing himself to me and asked if I was free to get my thoughts on something he was working on. I thought I was meeting up with him for business/work but turns out, he just wanted to get my time & attention.

Our Proposal Story
Michael surprised me in Chicago! I thought I was going to brunch with my best friend. As I got off the elevator, the host redirected me to this private area and Michael appeared. Once I saw him, I knew exactly what was happening. It was beautiful. He rented a private area of this famous rooftop. There were flowers, candles, our pictures, and a photographer capturing everything. I was so shocked because I remember the night before he proposed. When we FaceTimed, I thought he was still in Texas because his pillowcase was like the one in his home. I came to know that, he brought his pillowcase to the hotel in Chicago so I wouldn’t suspect when we FaceTimed LOL.

Love Notes 💌
Taara posted a sweet message on Instagram along with a slide show of their proposal pictures: “Many days I wondered if “it” would ever happen for me. I’ve seen so many people get blessed in finding an amazing spouse while I spent many nights hoping, praying, and wishing God would send me someone with who I could share my life. I specifically remember asking the Holy Spirit while I was on my man fast “how will I meet my husband if I’m on a man fast?!” He said, “don’t worry, I will present him to you.” I continued to mind my business & focus my energy on myself” “Sure enough at the beginning of 2020 I got a random FaceTime from my now fiancé (@fajedi ) out of the blue. We weren’t even“talking” or close friends at that time so it was random. But that day we reconnected and let’s just say the FTs continued ever since. The funny thing about us is that a few years ago (April 2017), Michael told me he was going to marry me. At that time we were just friends/colleagues. I thought he was just spitting game & flirting like most men. But clearly, he meant what he said” “Ladies it’s true: when a man knows, HE KNOWS! One thing that stood out to me about my fiancé more than any other man was his high level of respect, love & intentionality when he pursued & courted me. His words and actions always aligned. I’ve never ever had to question what we were, what we were doing, or where we were going because he was always direct and clear with me. He always made me feel so loved, valued & special. This isn’t just another love story - this is a manifestation of God’s promises, crazy faith, answered prayers & doing the “work”. MR. & MRS. AWOTEDU LOADING"
