We live and breathe Afro-Caribbean Weddings, and so glad to share this beautiful Jamaican destination wedding of Haitian groom Cardel and his Jamaican queen, Shanicia’s Caribbean wedding and love story. Their beautiful wedding was a day to remember filled with high spirits and joy held in Jamaica at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton.

The couple who both live in Germantown MD met in college at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where they began to fall in love as they pursued their degrees.

The Proposal

On Friday December 16, 2016 I woke up super early because I was so excited for my graduation. Throughout the day Cardel was getting on my nerves because he was trying to invite all of his friends to my graduation party. My list went from 60 to close to 100 people through out the day. I️ was livid, but I️ said I️ wouldn’t let that ruin my day.

When I️ got home the outfit I ordered was not there, so I was even more bummed and started to feel over the party. Anyways I finally found something to wear and got ready for the party. Once I arrived I️ was so excited to see all my family and friends. As the night went on everyone seemed to be having a good time, then my mom got up and spoke of how proud she was of me, followed by my grandmother, uncle, then some friends, and lastly Cardel. Hearing all the kind words from everyone had me teary eyed and filled with joy.

Now, Cardel’s words had me shedding tears because he said some of the sweetest things and finished his statement with, “And I wouldn’t be more proud to ask you to be my wife?” I was so shocked and the tears started to pour even more. I was unable to move from my chair, my aunt had to pick me up and bring me over to Cardel. The closer I️ got to him, the weaker I️ was and lost for words. I couldn’t stop shaking my head over and over saying YES!

I graduated with my Masters degree and got engaged all in the same day. This was one of the best feelings in the world. 12/16/16 will always be one of the BEST days of my life.

The Wedding

We enjoyed every single thing about our wedding in Jamaica at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton. The most exciting / emotional moment was seeing our reception wedding decor. Cardel allowed me to plan our dream wedding and being able to see my vision come to light brought so many tears.

Their Love Notes

Cardel, today I give myself to you. There is no one in this world I would rather share my life with. Proverbs 18:22 says he who finds a wife, finds a good thing. I will continue to be your good thing for the rest of our lives. You are exactly what I prayed to God for. I promise to respect you, be kind, honest, and patient. I promise to value your opinions and travel beside you through all of life’s adventures. I promise to always keep fighting for us, because I know we can overcome any uphill battles we might face. And I promise I will choose you every day a million times over and over, not because I have to, but because I want to! I love you best friend let’s continue to keep God first, live life together and remember there is no better love!- Wifey

Shanicia, I promise to not only be your husband, but your friend, your teammate and your confidant. Let me be the shoulder you lean on, the rock which your rest and the companion of your life. You make me laugh and you make me mad but above all you make my happy. I pledge to listen to your advice, I pledge to never keep score even if I’m completely winning. You know me better than anyone else in this world and somehow still manage to love me. For that I promise to be loyal, honest, and supportive. I will take your love to give me hope, joy and to be a better man. You are my best friend and one true love. Our love is unique because we are unique, together we make something that has never been seen before and I’m ready to build our legacy together. I love you girl.- Hubby
