Who doesn’t love a creative and beautiful outdoor wedding? Well, we definitely do! There is just something so magical and unique about outdoor weddings. Get ready, because Debronique and Toni’s beautiful beach wedding would leave you drunk in love.
The stunning Jamaican queen, Debronique, and her Zimbabwean beau, Toni, tied the knot in a very beautiful beach-side ceremony in Frenchman Cove Resort, Jamaica. The Afro Caribbean couple’s wedding ceremony was so gorgeous and fun-filled. It was nothing short of class, true love, and exciting moments.
We love how both families which were from different nationalities and cultures embraced each other with mutual love, joy, and respect. Oh, we heard the Zimbabweans got moves! They dominated the dancefloor. By the way, their love story is equally so sweet. After a 3-year-old long-distance relationship and a couple of "baecations", Toni popped the question in the place they first met years ago! Awwn.

Anyway, we went out on a series of dinner dates and nothing happened. Maybe nothing was up after all. On the day he was supposed to leave, we went for a photoshoot (as we usually did on our baecations to commemorate the visits). But this time was different. We got up to a roof of one of the city buildings and while taking the photos he asked that we do a video for his mom, it was her birthday and he wanted us to send her greetings, so the photographer obliged and started recording. At the end of the video he just casually said “oh, there’s one more thing” then reached into his pocket while going down on his knee! I laughed, he had gotten me good, real good! We were both happy at that moment, engaged in the place we first met years ago.
The flights from Zimbabwe to Jamaica took unbearable hours and was quite a financial demand, but his family made it and that meant a lot to all of us. What was most exciting? Well, I think the world knows Jamaicans can dance, but I think that night at the reception we all learned Zimbabweans are fire! Everyone left talking about how "lit" bae's family was on the dancefloor! We had a great time!

How We Met
Toni and I met in 2015 as international students in Shenyang, China. I was in my first year of med school and he was in his final year of his economics and international trade degree studies. I needed to find a church of my faith and it so happened that we were introduced to each other in order for him to take me to the church since I was new and didn't know my way around. He introduced me to the church fellowship and his church friends, soon we all became friends (he was dating someone else at the time, and I was just close-minded to dating while abroad). But over time, our friendship grew, and circumstances changed. We soon realized we could actually be great together, but he was about to graduate and return home and I had a number of years left in China.
Our Proposal Story
Proposal location: the city we first met (Shenyang, China), on a roof. Proposal date: October 7, 2019. Well, by the time he proposed, we had been in a long-distance relationship (he left China and went back home to Zimbabwe in 2016). We had taken two “baecations'' a year in order to see each other. I’d go to him or he’d come over to see me in China during my holiday breaks. So in October of 2019, he planned a surprise visit (wasn’t a holiday as usual) and told me he’d only come for 5 days because he missed me. Pssssh, I knew somn’ was up! Plus we’d always planned on getting married once I got to my final year.

Our Wedding Story
Wedding location: Frenchman Cove Resort, Port Antonio, Jamaica (bride's hometown). Wedding date: February 20, 2020. The ceremony was held on the beach at sunset (my dream setting) and the reception on the lawns. We enjoyed finally seeing both our families meet for the first time and embrace each other with mutual love, joy, and respect. It was rewarding to see that we brought together people from two completely different worlds and cultures, yet because we shared the same faith. It felt like we were one!
