Princess and Andy are giving us all the right feels with their engagement and love story!
Haitian 🇭🇹 educator, Princess Francois, and her Dominican 🇩🇴 prince, Andy Estevez are counting down to walking down the aisle after a romantic destination proposal at the great pyramid of Giza, Egypt. The Caribbean couple’s love story started off an online dating app (actually, two online dating apps). They stopped communicating for a while but found their way back to each other and are now counting down to forever. Talk about fate! Andy had always planned to give Princess a proposal befitting a princess, which he definitely did. He wanted it to be somewhere special and significant.

Fast forward to a year later, we met again on Coffee Meets Bagel - and this time, Princess initiated the conversation by saying that we had similar interests, a cute smile and that she would like to continue interacting with me in the near future. When we began to dig deeper into the initial conversation, we learned that we had similar upbringings, a steadfast passion for education, and were mutual friends with two people on Facebook (thanks, Coffee Meets Bagel). Although we began interacting through the app, we then moved to communicate via text message. We spent an entire Saturday texting while watching a movie together virtually, and ultimately a few days later… We went on our first date!
Fast forward, we were in Egypt and the question for me became WHEN to propose to her. After learning that we would be visiting the pyramids on our first full day in Egypt, I figured that perhaps this would be the perfect place to propose, especially since it is one of the ancient wonders of the world.
The experience upon arriving at the pyramids was quite an interesting one. Nervous, but determined to make this proposal happen, my mind was rushing away with thoughts as to when to make the moment come alive. From being approached to be photographed by hustlers to being brought to go on an unexpected camel ride, it was quite an adventure!
After having just lived this whirlwind of an experience and now being free from the hustlers, I became insistent that we take a picture on the pyramids not knowing that I had asked our tour guide to take pictures as I proposed to her. As nervous as I was, I bent down on my knee and asked her to marry me on April 22, 2019.

How We Met
I firmly believe that sooner or later, destiny would bring us together! Although our relationship was a result of our meeting on the dating app - Coffee Meets Bagel. We first came across each other on OkCupid, another dating app, back in early 2016. At that time, I had sent Princess a message to which she replied back a few weeks later. However, I did not reply back and the interaction ended there.

How He Proposed
From the very beginning, I knew that Princess was very special and I felt that she would be the one. As time passed, my beliefs continued to be affirmed and I knew that when I proposed to Princess, it would not only have to be somewhere special, but it would also have to be significant too. Therefore, when Princess suggested that we go to Egypt in April 2019, I knew that would be the perfect time and place to pop the big question. Egypt is the land of royalty, so why not propose to my queen there? (and her name is literally a royal title!). Of course, since we both come from families with traditional values, it was only right to ask her mother for her blessing to which she was happy! The only thing that I then hoped for was that she would not tell Princess anything and she most certainly did not!

What We Enjoyed About Our Engagement Shoot
I love that our engagement shoot was simple, which is what we are. Of course, it featured our cute couple side, forever matching outfits. We wore our hoodies that say “Together Since 2017” that we have owned since the beginning of this relationship as well as complimentary shirts highlighting our engagement. It was important for us to highlight our love for travel, so we chose to do our photoshoot at the Unisphere globe, located at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. We also wanted to highlight autumn since we will be getting married during the season. The funniest moment was trying to find scrabble letters to spell out words while we were freezing and properly placing them on my hands as they kept sliding all over the place #Epicfail.
Wedding Date and Location
We will be getting married on November 8, 2020, in Brooklyn, NY. Without a doubt, we are looking forward to formalizing the bond that we have established by making it a lifelong one. We are ready to continue the journey of life together not as two individuals, but as one couple determined to continue to triumph together as well as face and overcome any and all obstacles that life may throw at us. When you have an amazing life partner, nothing is impossible and we definitely are that to one another! Most importantly, we are looking forward to being united as one, under the eyes of God and our loved ones, and continuing to bring out the best in each other.
